Basic Concept

The Altiris House operates using Notification Server® and Software Delivery Solution®. The X-10 FireCracker interface is present in the serial port of the same server running NS. This interface sends RF signals to a Transceiver Module in the house which translates the signal and passes the command through the home's standard electrical wiring.

In order for the Notification Server® to control home automation, it must control what signals are sent from the FireCracker interface at what time. Using a command line capable executable, Software Delivery Programs can be made for every action desired. Currently, mscm17a.exe is being used to send FireCracker commands at the Altiris House. This executable is present at C:\Program Files\MSCM17A\mscm17a.exe on the home automation NS.

Configuration

A Package is created along with a series of Programs which correspond with a desired automation event.

Tasks are created to utilize the Package and various Programs that were created allowing for very granular scheduling options.
